Originally, the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics were founded and staffed
entirely by dedicated volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
lab technologists, medical assistants, psychologists, administrators,
and receptionists. Today, HAFCI's many programs depend on the work
of dedicated volunteers; many of whom are gaining valuable medical
experience, or returning to aid the programs where they were once
clients. Volunteer contributions translate into hundreds of thousands
of dollars worth of free services to those in need each year.
